Science & Technology Australia (formerly known as FASTS) held ‘Science Meets Parliament’ this year on the 20th and 21st of June.
‘Science meets Parliament’ was introduced by SATA/FASTS in 1999, and each year since then, they have been bringing up to 200 scientists from around the country for face-to-face meetings and forums with Parliamentarians in Canberra. The event is also a valuable opportunity for scientists to develop skills in advocacy and lobbying.
As a member of SATA, the Staff Association and the CPSU had access to a limited number of places for our members to participate. Six members from the Staff Association and the wider CPSU were chosen to attend, and have provided reports on their experience at the event. Some of these reports can be read below.
