“We also have a lot of students that work in CSIRO and, we think of them as interns but the technical name for them is, Postdocs,” said Chief Executive Larry Marshall at Senate Estimates in October 2019.

Call for apology

The Staff Association believes that all CSIRO staff – including Postdocs – deserve greater respect for the work they perform.

Many Postdocs have been calling on Dr Marshall to apologise for his comments. They have also asked the Staff Association to protect Postdoc rights and conditions in enterprise bargaining.
