Scholarships / Awards

John Little Scholarships are available to members who are undertaking formal study for a first qualification up to and including a four year degree. The scholarships are $750 to assist with the costs of books and other study related expenses. Up to four scholarships are awarded each year.

Who was John Little?

John Little

John Little was a former Technical Association (TA) Victorian Branch Chairman, TA Federal President and one of the stalwarts of the Association. It was John’s foresight that set the Association on the path to professionalism. John was a Technician who believed that there was a role for the Technician as a skilled practical scientific researcher. Following his untimely death due to a heart attack, the Association Council decided to establish the Scholarship in his honour.

Conditions of Entry – Applicants must:

• Be financial members of the CSIRO Staff Association;

• Be undertaking or enrolled to undertake a course of study leading to the award of a qualification up to their first degree (including four year degrees; study for Higher School Certificates); and

• Not have received a John Little Scholarship on any previous occasion.

• Applicants may be classified at any CSOF Level.

Applications must be countersigned by an Officer of the local Sub-Section Delegates Committee (Councillor, President, Deputy President, Secretary or Assistant Secretary) or Workplace Delegate prior to forwarding to the Staff Association office.

The Association Executive selects the winners each year.
